The Discovery Center at Ningaloo Reef Resort

The Discovery Center is a museum located at the front of the resort. It was opened in 2001 and is the first museum dedicated to the origins of the island. It is a must-visit for all tourists visiting the island. The museum is small but very nice and informative. Old photos of the island from pre-war have been shown along with a complete and small history of people living on the barren continent.

The building where the resort is located is interesting because firstly the foundations of the construction have got sand from all around Australia, but also there are little holes in its wall. The place was once an old fortress against all types of crazy invasions, so these holes are all real bullet cases. Another interesting fact about the resort is that the road leading down to it has been made from blocks of bauxite. Production of bauxite began in 1964 and continues today with around 90% sold to several cement companies in Australia.

The Exhibit Center

The Exhibit Center is a meeting point for many exhibitions and events that occur in the resort: conferences and graduations of several Universities and secondary schools, dog shows and wedding ceremonies etc. It can also be used to receive very small groups at one time. The Exhibition Center captivates guests thanks to its aquarium, which houses more than 10 000 fishes of over 500 different species, who were adopted by the resort after being rescued from Asia during bad fishing projects there.

Fish food sold here is manufactured locally with help from other resorts as well as local fishermen’s schemes through Fauna Forever Fund, which protects Australia’s wildlife and beaches by regularly cleaning up the litter left by tourists since 1906 (the world’s longest-running marine conservation program).

The Spa and Thermal Pools

Ningaloo Reef Resort is also well known for its spa, thermal pools and spas in general. The spa is connected with natural thermal springs which bubble from below the earth. There are two main categories to explore in the spa from honeymooners to young kids, sauna lovers, and those who prefer lukewarm to room temperature water or massages, there is something for everyone at the resort’s many thermal spas.

Couples between 1983 and 2003 were married at the “island register office” in one of their many beautiful Garden Suites just right next to the Garden Spa where most weddings take place¬ It also boasts an ancient still called Hale Talavu – translated as ‘house of water’ referring to its use as a healing structure by aborigines so you are guaranteed an authentic experience during your trip!

Parks and Wildlife

The parks and reserves at the Ningaloo Reef Resort are worth a visit just for the scenery: the waterfalls, the greenery and the wildlife. You can find a huge range of animals from all over the island including elephants, walruses, elephants and more. You can also find a few species of birds that you might not see elsewhere in Australia. Ningaloo Reef is a great place to explore nature and wildlife.

An exceptional Great Barrier Reef

The Ningaloo Reef has a British research ship that allows guests to play with the fish, try on scuba equipment and learn about these researchers’ findings on the reef – it is a fantastic way to get up close and personal with nature although swimming at the resort is also encouraged. In terms of the Great Barrier Reef itself, it seems to have an unusually high diversity of fish and marine life that are endemic – you don’t need a scuba suit to see them either as Ningaloo Reef has some of the most varied snorkeling that Australia has to offer.

A relaxed traveller’s pace

Ningaloo Relaxation is famous among guests who want an easy pace with their trip, more like living in their own, personal resort. It also offers activities for people of all experience levels such as surfing and kayaking no matter what draws you to Tanami: peaceful surroundings or extreme adventures close at hand. You can even mix the two by doing a bit of surfing followed by a trip in a two-seat kayak for instance!

Breakaways

Breakers are those once or twice yearly gatherings at Ningaloo for people who’ve both booked and won through competition or payment. Breakers take place over one whole week (although everyone leaves at different times allowing flexibility) which gives enough time for complete relaxation from cell phone availability or topics that tell you bits ‘n’ pieces but not the full picture!

This provides a solid platform on which to enjoy insider stories from trainers amidst relaxation and fun times in clean beach shirts (as opposed to surf wear). They aim to bring people closer together with lots of opportunities to mix socially, play random games and explore new possibilities whether it be surfing, gym-based workouts or photography skills; anything that stretches beyond your comfort zone is possible on these breaks.

Ningaloo Crabbing

If you’re not quite brave enough to swim at the bottom of the great barrier reef you can go crabbing on one of your off days. Here, watch as Red French crabs dig burrows and then each pick up a coconut head off the ocean floor and cherry pickers to help themselves inside. The crabs aren’t aggressive or harmful so don’t worry about having them near you.

Accommodation

There is something for everyone at the 40 km expanse of the Ningaloo Reef Resort. With everything from sea-view cabins to spa-access rooms, villas, suites and beachfront holiday shelters, you are guaranteed a comfortable stay. All accommodation comes with a private balcony or terrace for you to relax in with a drink overlooking the ocean, as well as breakfast each morning at the Garden Restaurant.

The resort also boasts over 400 freshwater canals and intertidal zones where fish simply swim in seas that are six kilometers wide and 100 feet (30 m) deep – this plus coral reefs encircling more than 93% of the island add up to spectacular scenery which will have you relaxed in no time!

Golf Course

The golf course at the Ningaloo Reef Resort is not your ordinary golf course. It is aLinks of the World course and is one of only five courses in the world to be listed as such. To be listed, the course must have an expansive area to play from and must maintain a certain standard of golf throughout the course. Golfers of varying skill levels can challenge themselves at this extraordinary course.

Conclusion

The Ningaloo Reef Resort is located on the south coast of the Australian state of Queensland. It is a luxury vacation spot offering guests a choice of five properties with six more to come. The resort has an impressive 18-hole golf course, a luxury spa, two hotels, an 18-hole golf course and numerous restaurants.
